Where to buy a voltage converter in Delhi

Our only voltage converter just stopped working! We use it for many small things like the hair dryer, blender, etc, so need another one ASAP! Where can we buy one in South Delhi? Any shops close to Vasant Vihar? We brought this one from Canada so I'm not really sure if they are easy to buy in Delhi or not. How much should we expect to pay?
Any advice is appreciated!

ooooo.....I'm guessing you mean a step down transformer (take local 240 volts down to 120)? You could try Osama's emporium at Basant lok (next to Barista). They have a truckload of appliances of all types, so even if they don't have one they might be able to point you in the right direction? Failing that - Nehru place I guess.

good luck.

you can also give some of the electrical shops in Khan market a shot , its not a unique or rare appliance, should not have too hard a time finding it..

Just to update..
I was in Palika Bazaar and found one there today for Rs500. I took it home, tried it, and it broke!
I then went to my local electric shop and found the same voltage converter (but in working condition) for Rs280. The shopkeeper even offered to repair the dodgy one I'd bought from Palika Bazaar.
Moral of the story - buy voltage converters from your local electric shop, not from Palika Bazaar!

That is something that I love about India, not only is there is a strong "repair" culture, but there are also the skills to back it up as an affordable alternative to simply throwing something away.

That is something that we in the West have sadly lost, looking for silver linings, perhaps this credit crunch will help redress the imbalance.

You can find them cheap enough in Main Bazaar in Paharganj (the very handy tourist ghetto).
