Yep.

Thing is, it just wasn't very useful before banks came along!

There may be a solution after all!

Just got this in my inbox from Zone Alarm:

Quote:
ZONEALARM FORCEFIELD CREATES A VIRTUAL YOU FOR YOUR INTERNET SESSIONS ON ANY PC, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME

It's like my Internet stunt double. It can do everything I do and can take the hits, leaving me unscathed. So bring it on, bad guys!

ZoneAlarm ForceField is the first security product designed to respect your freedom online while giving you superhero-level protection. It lets you:

>> Shield your PC - Completely eliminate uninvited downloads and changes to your computer while you surf

>> Surf privately - Leave absolutely no tracks on your computer as you surf the Internet

>> Transact safely - Secure your online banking and shopping from identity thieves
http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fo...d_x/index.html

Again, I'm not related to nor friends with anyone at zone labs.

strangely enough H, i just got this email as well!
It may be just the ticket. I like zonealarm's firewall and certainly trust them more than norton or mcafee. the free beta looks good and i may just give it a go...

iway answered all my questions about timings, convenience etc in Delhi; I told them I intended to use them for a week or so during my stay there, as it was a short walk from where I was staying. All good. I took membership.

Next morning, that iway had closed down for good and was now gway, for gone away.

Besant Lok, Vasant Vihar.

Opposite Nirula's and the fountain, at the corner.

Back to ZoneAlarm - this looks good, but Beta version says it's rough around the edges... As many already know I am a complete novice with technical stuff - is it SAFE to download?? Will it gum up the works?? I have Norton Antivirus 2007 only and don't know what firewall although I saw Firewall mentioned somewhere when I was playing around checking out My Computer one time.. where would i find about firewalls in my computer?? Before i download wouldn't mind a bit of reassurance and knowledge!!

I'd say, stay away if it is still beta.

It's really hard to understand firewall-type software and wht effects it might have.

Even the experts should back up registry/system settings.

But I haven't looked at it yet.

iWay is a franchise, apart from a few big branches of its own, so I suppose one could disappear. You'd still be able to use your card at other branches --- if they gave you one, and weren't just pocketing the cash pre-closure.

Maybe the staff didn't know either, and felt the same as you when they arrived for work

freeze! don't move!

Just a suggestion, but Norton and Zone Alarm sometimes do not play nicely together. Most firewalls have a habit of taking out the opposition if you install them which can be hamful for the original config of your firewall. You may recall I mentioned a couple of weeks about fixing a couple of laptops? Both had Norton internet security and had installed spybot on top of it (both are excellent programmes)- took about a week to untangle.

If you downloaded the beta onto a flash drive and booted from the flash - that should be ok I guess? Might give it a go myself...

Forcefield.... I wish they'd put the effort into giving us information instead of silly graphics on the site

It says it's easy to uninstall....

14 hours later, all the furniture and computers had been removed.
They knew, all right.

Thing is, its easier to go to a neighbourhood cybercafe than an iway, in any big city. So it was of no use to me thereafter.

I walked into an iway in Hyderabad and gave my membership, password (and therefore balance) to the youngest guy there.
