strangely enough H, i just got this email as well!
It may be just the ticket. I like zonealarm's firewall and certainly trust them more than norton or mcafee. the free beta looks good and i may just give it a go... |

iway answered all my questions about timings, convenience etc in Delhi; I told them I intended to use them for a week or so during my stay there, as it was a short walk from where I was staying. All good. I took membership.
Next morning, that iway had closed down for good and was now gway, for gone away. |

Back to ZoneAlarm - this looks good, but Beta version says it's rough around the edges... As many already know I am a complete novice with technical stuff - is it SAFE to download?? Will it gum up the works?? I have Norton Antivirus 2007 only and don't know what firewall although I saw Firewall mentioned somewhere when I was playing around checking out My Computer one time.. where would i find about firewalls in my computer?? Before i download wouldn't mind a bit of reassurance and knowledge!!

I'd say, stay away if it is still beta.
It's really hard to understand firewall-type software and wht effects it might have. Even the experts should back up registry/system settings. But I haven't looked at it yet. iWay is a franchise, apart from a few big branches of its own, so I suppose one could disappear. You'd still be able to use your card at other branches --- if they gave you one, and weren't just pocketing the cash pre-closure. Maybe the staff didn't know either, and felt the same as you when they arrived for work ![]() |

Just a suggestion, but Norton and Zone Alarm sometimes do not play nicely together. Most firewalls have a habit of taking out the opposition if you install them which can be hamful for the original config of your firewall. You may recall I mentioned a couple of weeks about fixing a couple of laptops? Both had Norton internet security and had installed spybot on top of it (both are excellent programmes)- took about a week to untangle. If you downloaded the beta onto a flash drive and booted from the flash - that should be ok I guess? Might give it a go myself... |

14 hours later, all the furniture and computers had been removed.
They knew, all right. Thing is, its easier to go to a neighbourhood cybercafe than an iway, in any big city. So it was of no use to me thereafter. I walked into an iway in Hyderabad and gave my membership, password (and therefore balance) to the youngest guy there. |
