USB Flash drives
Before I buy any more of these here in Vermont, how much will I pay for the same there, in India? I'm just looking for the basic 1 Gb or more drive, nothing fancy.
http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Cata...sh_Drives.aspx And will they be the same item [ie the same quality]? I recall walking past many, many photo and electronics shops just off Chandni Chowk - would this be the best place to buy these? [and bargain for them?] distaff half of hfot2 |

Certainly these are a lot less expensive. Any hints for how to tell if they are counterfeit? I'm sure the product SKU number and/or bar code number would be things any good counterfeiter would copy and I haven't a clue how to tell if what I'm looking at is real or not. Is a cheap price an indicator of a fake? Last edited by hfot2 : Sep 17th, 2007 at 01:38. Reason: spelling error |

These "USB thumb drives" (or whatever you all 'em) are always on sale. Look at the ads in your Sunday paper from Office Depot, Raio Shack, CompUSA or whoever is your local merchant. A $12+sales tax is Rs518 for me ... not worth searching them out in India when I could be shopping for things I can't get here in the US. Even Costco sometimes has these at a good price.

if still want to purchase from Delhi then Chandni Chowk is not the right place...you have to go to Nehru Place for reliable product and warranty.. |

Always check www.deals2buy.com .. Some times you get 'em even for free but you have to mail 'em mail in rebates ...

It's been a while since I bought ours; point well taken. No time to shop around now, but thanks for the obvious and simple solution. distaff half |

I am going to mostly south india (Chennai, Kerala, Banglore Goe etc.) And I prefer not carrying my computer, but if I bring my USB with my manuscript can I hook it up to the local internet cafe computer and work on my book there?
Thanks |

yes you can, perhaps not always without a little convincing (the shopkeeper). a 1 GB flash drive (Amkette) would cost about 500 bucks in india.
