Topping up a SIM card purchased in someone else's name
I'm using an Airtel SIM card purchased for me by a friend here in India.
Can I top up the SIM easily? Will I need to provided any of the same details given when the card was purchased?

No, if it's prepaid you just walk into any shop, give them the number, put down your cash and a couple of seconds later you'll receive a text indicating that your credit was updated. No formalities.
