South India - 'net access and buying camera

Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of buying a cheap digital camera to take to India (MUMBAI-GOA-KERALA-MANDURAI-MUMBAI) with me. I figure i'd buy a 4megapix camera with a gig or so of storage.

The reason for the gig of storage - i presume it will be difficult to get to an internet connection and ftp 128MB at a time to my fileserver/ webserver.

couple of questions:

Will i find regular 'net access with fast enough connection to upload, say, 100MB? - will i be charged a fortune?

Should i buy a camera and flash card here (UK) or would it be easy enough and cheaper to buy in India?

Judging from northern India - extremely hard. Uploading compressed images , for example to the gallery here, ranges from ok to very difficult.

Without any experience to back it up I prefer 512 mb cards since these will fit on a single CD , no risk of snafus when dividing on to double discs.

U will find several cybercafes in all the places...except in rural villages of course.

To buy camera and films go to any authorised Kodak shops...u will locate them easily on main roads because of their huge sign board.
