But you get what you pay for. Indian adapters can be a very poor fit, and the contacts made of the thinest strips of copper. Or Aluminium if they're really cutting corners. I have one UK plug where the live pin has been eroded away because of the constant sparking within the adapter. I've also had an adapter catch fire! Luckily someone was there to turn off the power.

Very true.

These made-for-everything sockets really compromise and not brilliant for anything.

Luckily the traveller is unlikely to have much high-current stuff to plug in.

Still, having your home-country strip ensures stuff will fit well, and the plug will cost less than an adapter
