second-handed laptop

short and sweet:

does anyone know of a good place in calcutta (or delhi) to buy a second handed laptop? my budget is, at maximum, $300. i just want it to use it as a word processor, so it could be even a ten year old model...

i'm a writer, and i desperately need one, here in india. i'm thinking about selling it back in three months anyway...

any light would be SO MUCH appreciated
thank you
césar

I'd suggest renting it too. Laptops cost more in India than in the US or UK so $300 would only get you an ancient or unreliable machine. For rentals, Nehru Place in South Delhi is where you should be looking. This site has a comprehensive listing of dealers in Nehru place.

But if you must buy a machine, try India's ebay aquisition - bazee.com, now re-christened as http://www.ebay.in/

Either way, I'd suggest keeping regular backups.
