Schools or Private Instruction - Program for iPhone and Android
*I have a ten year visa would there be an issue for me insofar as enrolling and attending?
Interested in doing something like C++, Java, Ruby and SDK all for iPhone. Android.
>>Specifically, I want to walk away with solid skills to program iPhone and Android Apps.
I'm not trying to impress anyone with a piece of paper. I have a degree, I need competent training in these languages.
I'd thought about going to Pune, Bangalore or better for weather Chandagargh and just settle in, look about for an instructor who wants to make some dosh on the side for a few hours daily. I don't know how easily settling in anywhere in India might be and I would only want to do six months at a go.
I looked around HP on the Internet, no schools really. Anyone might know something I missed? Any chance there are competent, crack tutors up there? Weather is far better than south.
Thank you kindly

I do not know if you are allowed to do these courses on a tourist visa, but the better places are most likely to be in the big cities, unless you can find a private tutor who is working in the field somewhere.
Be careful in selection, a majority of places are not worth the paper they give you at the end. Hopefully somebody working with the languages will post here.

And,

You do know you get six months at a time in India, of course. The training will be therefore shorter.

So the meta talk is you want to hangaround in India ? And they have cracker jack C++ and Ruby on Rails programmers coming from these institutes in India ? All that great free software in sourceforge written by students from these institutes impressed you

BTW - You really cannot join a registered valuable course on a T visa

Thanks Capt.
No, nothing has "impressed me" and I do understand how bad some of the schools and instruction might be. I have some ideas for apps that I would like to create and would like to learn how. I have time on my hands, outdated IT skills... so it makes sense to perhaps learn this stuff. There seems to be a demand if I could master the programming. As for "hanging out in India". I have spent years in India (coming and going) in this case, I am interested in coming to India to learn something, not hang out. My preference for HP is because it is cooler and I have friends there. I only wish to dedicate six months at one go because that is the duration of the visa. I also have to return to Thailand and US.
If I could do it in Thailand, I would. My parents community college does not offer courses in any programming language/s.

If you want the best IT training in India, then IMO you should opt for Bangalore .Try NIIT / IIHT as both of these have a lot of affiliations / associations with institutes / organization etc .
Also NIIT is registered with the AICTE [ All india council for tecchnical education ] govt body that authorizes technicla edu.
