This may be a FAQ, in which case please point me to the right thread, but dies anyone have any experience and advice regarding Satellite Radios, and whether they are any good for receiving Radio 4 ?????

If so, is there a recommended brand and stockist in Goa ?

Many TIA, Annie

Have you heard: Jack Wooley's selling Grey Gables, so Sid may have to leave the Bull ???

Can't help you with satellite radio sources of R4 in Goa, but did want to say don't forget that Radio 4 is available on the Internet. Perhaps you can get broadband, where you are ?

If you find out that R4 *is* available on a satellite with a footprint covering Goa, then any free-to-air receiver will do. Dish size depends on the signal strength - ask your local TV guy.

I listen to BBC Radio 4 (and other radio stations worldwide) on my laptop, connecting to the Internet with a Reliance mobile phone.

Sound quality is excellent, and the connection is plenty fast enough because Media Player and Real Player buffer the sound before it plays.

John - would you mind giving details of *exactly* what is involved to do that. I generally take a laptop, but have always stuck to cyber cafes in the past. I, and I am sure others, would be interested in a quick step-by-step guide.

The reason I mentioned broadband was not so much its higher download speeds, as its 'always on' quality. You could use it for R4 much as one uses a transistor radio back at home.

Satellite Radio in India

Is it possible to get XM or Sirius OR even European satellite radio channels in India? Worldspace receivers are really uncool with limited internationl music catering largely to "ROCK" or just a trance(The System)channel for dance.
