Reliance Wimax Internet - CAUTION!!!

Just to share my terrible experience with this service...to spare the pain for those of you who have other choices.

It took me 1&half months to get it installed from the date i submitted form and deposit. Long story about forms getting messed up, miscommunication, etc etc...
Eventually when it was finally installed, it worked for 3 days.
I made countless calls to the helpdesk, the channel partner and installation dept. It was useless. I got so tired of calling, wasting my time and money on STD calls that I just gave up and took it as a bonus if it was ever working. after almost a month, service was finally restore a day before i left for 2week trip. Not surprisingly, it was down again when i returned. I was also greeted by a bill for the month!

Worst thing is the Helpdesk service, which is a total misnomer.
Once in awhile you are directed to technical person.
Each time you are told its a different problem, one minute its just your connection, next minute its the entire network issue.
They rarely commit a time line for service to be restored and even if they did, it rarely happens.
Eventually they will give you a complaint number and standard response- they will escalate your complaint to the technical dept who 'will' get back to you. and they NEVER do.

I've finally had enough and terminated the connection. Just keeping my fingers crossed that some other service provider will be able to serve my apartment...

Its unfortunate that you had such a bad experience since wimax is a very promising technology (both in terms of performance and reliability). As you say, hopefully another service provider will be able to get it right

There are not a whole lot of carriers deploying Wimax. In the US, Sprint-Nextel have bet their house on it - However, their CEO got fired day-before so I dunno the future of that deployment.

- plus spectrum management and licensing has become such a bun fight everywhere (look at the situation in India for example).

That should explain why it doesnt work 90% of the time.
but I must say that speaking to the call centre has taken away years of my life.
They simply do not understand plain English, but keep repeating the standard reply. almost feel like you're speaking to a voice machine. What solution would you propose for such a problem?

anyway, the strangest thing is I've checked with Airtel and they are not able to provide any connection for my apartment, not even a telephone line.
Is this the standard one should expect of an IT hub?
