Reliance R-Connect Dealer Trivandrum / Kollam / Varkala ?

I'm having real problems finding a dealer here in Kerala who can help me hook up my Apple laptop to a prepaid Reliance mobile internet connection.

Endless prepaid card outlets but little in the way of knowledge on getting started.

A previous thread has suggested that I require a Samsung handset ( not sure whether it's an older model or not ) and a USB cable and then an Apple running on OSX will recognise this as a new 'device' and off I go ! Standard drivers for the R-Connect dialer will not load on to an Apple - hence the need for the Samsung.

Basically, anyone out there who can help - preferably have a handset & connection to try it before I buy into it ? I'd be happy to buy anyone a beer or offer a small consultation fee !

Also, the Reliance web site is a little patchy about tariffs etc. How does the R-Connect pre pay work out ?

Thanks for any advice on offer

bb

There must be a full fledged Reliance showroom somewhere near you, have you tried them ? The dealers usually know f$#@all. It is quite frustrating to get things up and runing here when it comes to these things and I would be pretty sure Reliance must be understaffed as far as technical ppl dealing with mobiles and internet connectivity are concerned. Find a showroom with an in house technician, Hutch has them so would Reliance.

My vote is for you to check out in Kochi (Cochin). Dont really remember seeing much options in TVM. Unless Usha gives us some direction.

Thanks guys... I eventually got a tip off one of the guys in the largest showroom to see an 'agent' near MG rd TRV. He says he can get me an 'old' Samsung handset ( The ONLY one that will work on a Mac ) for Saturday. Not sure what to expect condition wise - or even if it will work at all

Any ideas on a second hand price for a Reliance Samsung R-Connect compatible handset ?? Price for a USB data cable ?

Also any addresses for the apple dealers in Kochi ??

Thanks

USB cable cost between 1200 to 1500 for a good one. But then Kochi is cheaper than TVM.
You want to get in touch with any computer dealer in trivandrum?
Hey wen r u planning to land up here .?
Sudheer another IM meeting is in the air here.
cheers

Thanks again...

I think I'll see what the guys in TRV come up with.. Otherwise it could be a trip to Kochi.. TRV, for a State Capital, is not the greatest place to get things..

TRV is the state capital only for govt offices...

The commercial capital is actually Kochi. You will know when you go there.

People compare it to the Delhi - Mumbai, or Beijing - Shanghai split.
