It was Giga 2, no need to link it to a computer to save the pics, you can download it directly from the card. But no viewing capacity, just a display for download control. And I guess there are different versions of it, as the instruction manual was sometimes quite strange... like: fix the screw... err, sorry, there is no screw.

All in all, I was dissappointed. It is good to hear that there are better versions If it is possible now to download the pics directly from the camera to an Ipod (impossible 3 years ago), I would prefer a media player like that.

No first hand experience , but the iPod Camera connector has been around for a while now ,

before that there was the Belkin Media Reader doing the same thing (in a clunkier way ) .

Apple has a list of compatible cameras, but the user reviews mentions more .
Possible issues : large cards on single downloads (you can´t run IPod on an external power source at the same time ) , card reader support.

hello T.I.P

what you need is a device with a USB host. Please do not confuse it with normal usb connectivity. A USB host allows the gadget to identify mass storage devices like portable hard drives, card readers, DSLRs etc...
Check out the Archos players AV504, AV604....comes with USB host,..upto 160GB capacity...4inch LCD screen...plays most video/audio formats..can function as TV recorder just like your VCR....voice recording....Wi-Fi connectivity for net browzing....you name it and it has...
And interms of value for money beats the shit out of an ipod.

I have the earlier model AV500. It certainly can read pics from a card reader. But has usb1.1 host. So takes about 20 mins to download 1GB. Never tried it with my 350D but should work if i set the cam in P2P mode...

But nothings beats a hyperdrive...accepts all cards...runs on AA batteries and 1GB in less than a minute...
I mentioned this in one of the threads about gadgets you started...but i guess you did not read it...here is the link to that thread....

Wow!!! Thanx a lot for that info about the ipod camera connector, i know its not the perfect gadget, but it's really useful, i just got it today, tried it and worked flawlessly!! For 30 bucks, this thing'll do just fine!!! I'm definitely taking it to my travel in india on next january!! only bad thing is that it drains the ipod battery quite a bit, but it dont matter anyways... you can always recharge your ipod...
