Portable, cheap, gadget thingy needed.
Is there a cheap portable gadget that would allow me to type things into it (preferably with a 'fold up' keyboard) and later transfer it to my home computer?
The devise would ideally be re-chargeable, though normal battery operated would do, it would be used at work to type PM's, E-mails and replies to threads, also on holiday to do a kind of travelogue and hopefully just transfer the info to this site from an internet cafe. I am sure I’ve seen one mentioned on this site before, but don't know what to put into the search engine. Latest technology is not needed; I wont need a lot of memory, perhaps a second-hand 'out of date' device, though the ability to transfer direct to a computer is essential. I have an embarrassingly long list of un-answered PM's and E-mails, and I am constantly coming across threads where I have replied "I will do a full reply later" and never got round to doing the full reply. I have virtually no chance of 'catching up' unless I start doing some of the replies at work where I have tons of spare time. Any advice on this matter would be appreciated.

hi steve-
im new here, hope i can point you in some sort of direction. ivebeen eyeing the alphasmart thru many iterations for that novel that never seems to get written. that said, a low end pda with a detactable keyboard could also do it. ie - a pda with a roll up or fold up keyboard. keep it simple and cheap eh? gadgets like these: http://www.alphasmart.com/mobile/products/index.html http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?...LUS_FRRE FURB |

For about 160 USD you can get a basic Palm Zire with a folding keyboard + connection to the `puter. Real basic : b/w screen, 8 mb memory (expandable , thou`) .
