Nokia phone in India, Goa
I've got this gmsphone of Nokia's, with which
I'm able to take jpg-pictures and 3gp-videos. Now, when the memorycard gets full, will there be possibility to empty it and burn them to cd-rom? As I've understood, and please correct me if I'm wrong - You can take your digitalcamera's memorycard, no matter who's the manufacturer, to a photostore and they are able to make photos out of it or burn them to a cd. So you don't need to take any usb-cable or computerprogram for it? Does the Nokia's memorycard work in the same way - do they have programs for it? And by the way, I'm still asking this - will I be able to send mms out of India or connect to the gprsinternet with my phone with an Indian simcard? Complicated guestions, I know. Hopefully more simple answers. ..Oh, and one more thing, is there a chance to work with your digital photos in a cybercafé? Do they have photoshop or such and possibility to burn a cd-rom?

Would be helpful if you mentioned the model # of your mobile phone. You won't find photoshop in most of the cyber cafes but they have other programs which you can use. Photoshop is too expensive and resource intensive for the average cyber cafe in India. Why don't you just take your laptop to India? You can get a laptop for $700.

Actuall canuck I've found Photoshop 7.0 in quite a few cybercafes along the way!!
I wouldn't describe this situation as uibiquitous in any way but if you look around, you can often find photoshop 6.0 or 7.0 installed, these are not too hard on a reasonable system (if they can run XP they can run Photoshop) Plus buying a copy of photoshop in India is very cheap...............if you know what I mean!! I've even found pirate versions of Photoshop CS along the way!! I'm probably just spending too much time in cybercafes eh Anyway no you won't find them eveywhere but you will find Photoshop in some cafes. Usually left behind by obliging tourists ![]() |

Yeah Photoshop 7.0 would probably be OK on the older computers but Photoshop CS will be a problem. Tried running Photoshop CS on a Pentium 3 with 128 MB RAM and the experience was pathetic.
The SIFY i-way cyber cafes do not carry pirated software as far as I have seen. The smaller independent ones do carry pirated programs but they also more often than not carry lots of viruses, spyware, malware etc. ![]() |

Yeah Photoshop has always been a test program for new CPUs as they are very CPU intensive.
And your right the Reliance and Sify cafes won't have this but many of the little independant places often have a suprising software collection. I'm not a big fan of the franchises anyway I hate the wau they set up the computers for max advertising and many won't let you as much as open a floppy on their network! I've yet to visit it but there's a software market in Delhi where this stuff can be had for a few dollars including stuff like CS2!! Not that I condone pirating of course!!! ![]() |

you want to use a camera phone to take pics of your trip???
what is the resolution? not likely to be anything you'd be proud to print beyond 2-3 square centimeters.

Your camera must have a InfraRed port.
You can buy a InfraRed to USB port device in india for ~Rs.200-250 ($4.40-$5.50) This will enable you to transfer all your photos to any computer in any cybercafe. Preferably use I-way or R-world..........possibility of virus is low. I'll suggest you to burn your photos in CDs without that Photoshop jobs...........burn it as it is, you can do all those works when you are at home. Cost factor: CD-R is available in india from as low as Rs6(~$0.13) to Rs 25(~$0.55) ENJOY ToD
