You mean whether you remain connected or not? At certain points, you may recieve signal (if it catches the towers at Darjeeling).

Anybody who has trekked recently in this route (Sandakfu-Phalut) with mobile phones please confirm this.

Last october I got a network at Sandakphu, the ridge over Molley (in between Sandakphu and Phalut) and also about 3km before Phalut on the ridge top. I was relishing the silence and savoring the awesome view when my f*****g phone suddenly started ringing. I had never been more annoyed in my life!!
My network is BSNL and it has given excellent coverage is very remote areas. I don't know about the performance of other service providers

BSNL is the best whenever you leave the cities in India. But as Clawhammer told...better leave your mobile phone at home or switch it off. it will only disturb you in those heavenly places.

If you have a postpaid vodafone airtel dont worry it should just be fine
The daddy of all network s is with BSNL even in remote areas i cold acess to the net via gprs !!!!
One more thing the call centre guy s @ vodafone aint aware that there is a tie up with airtel and even your regular post paid could use the air tels network
What does nt work is pre paid of any of the companies none of them have set up pre paid feasibilty !!

Hi
GPRS coverage is fine in a metro city like Delhi. Whereas you can face some problems in the smaller cities.

Never had a problem with weak signals (certainly have with strong signals!) but I'm referring to North India only.

To some countries.
And within India MTNL/BSNL are the cheapest by far.
