laptop, PDA, or?
Well, I always keep a journal on any of my trips. Up till now I had always kept paper journals (like a small notebook), but when at home I keep a journal on my computer. I can type way faster than I can write, so I prefer to write in my journal on a computer. I thought about getting a small laptop and bringing it with me on my trip, so I can both keep my journal, back up my digital pics, and whatever else. But the thought of lugging a laptop and all the accessories and of course, risking damage or loss, doesn't appeal to me. So then I thought about getting an upscale PDA and getting a collapsible keyboard attachment. I was wondering if you guys had any input on this.
Thanks!
Thanks!
have a happy day!

A small 12" PowerBook is worth its meagre weight in gold, your tool kit in a can, does everything and anything and needs a small power supply.
I have a 12 PB and love it, also have a Palm and while they are great to 'play' with and do all sorts of quick things, they require backing up regular as they will freeze etc etc. So unless you write everything to a SD card or whatever for backing up they really need syncing to a PC to rebuild them if the thing crashes. The power supply is roughly the same, they require usb cables or blue tooth etc for sync, so as far as accessories go there is no differnce really.
The 12"PB has a range of sleeves available for extra protection, plays your music, views and tweaks your photos, sends the emails and your journal is written and edited, photos inserted and ready for publishing, to easy. Full blowen programmed rather than silly little things that are like the early days of DOS. As for losing them, I would forget my PDA easier as it is so small and has slipped out of places that I thought were secure. Remember the US army used PowerBooks in the field in Iraq and were very happy, so they will survive India.
