Laptop DELL Latitude C400 P3 1200

Hi, i was thinking of taking this to India, this sort of laptop used version. I want to use it mostly for watching movies, avis, also some photo editing and some light computing.
What's your experience with a laptop in India, charging etc? Any experience with this model? Will it last 6 months? too heavy?

Namaste,
Even if I have not been to India, I know from reading other postings that there is quite a bit of paperwork that has to be done prior to bringing it in at customs. Also you need to have the computer in hand when you leave. So if it is something that will have a short life span and die. You could be held responsible got the price of the computer when you leave.

But if you wish I would take it off your hands , so that you would not be caught up in paperwork and having to lug it around and you would not have to worry about it.

Don't know the weight of that particular model - but if you have a comfy carrying bag or knap sack compartment for it - there should be no problemo! It might be wise to pick up a power surge/spike protector for added protection against India's sometimes wonky wall plug-ins/voltages.

laptop for personal use while travelling.

its not a problem with customs like peak said..if you just bring one laptop.

it depends on what kind of travelling are you doing. is it the backpacking kind>..or is it more relaxed, a bit luxurious jaunt travel? the reason is the weight, inconsistent power supply, safety while travelling and the vagaries of climates...

even ipods and mp3 players have a tough time sometimes..i know atleast couple of ipods that went belly up..though my iriver survived nicely.

if you are backpacking, and going to small towns/what not, then i dont think its worth it to be honest. plus these days, there a bunch of internet cafe's everywhere...

now if you have those nifty sony viaos or smaller tablets, then maybe you could try it..that tooo only if you reelly reelly need that immediate access to computer any time and wherever....
