Laptop AC Adapter question--help!!!!

Dear friends,
I am in a considerable quandry. The AC Adapter for my IBM laptop, purchased in the USA, is eminently usable in the USA. But it is unclear if this adapter can be used in India or Europe. The information on the adapter is conflicting, thusly:

There are two places on the adapter that use the magic words "input" and "output.

One place, right below the P/N nuumber, says
IMPUT 100-240V~ 1.3A-0.7A 50-60 Hz
OUTPUT 16V-3.36A (and then some plug polarity symbols)

Fine. The above numbers indicate this device is usable in India, I presume.
But then we have the following enclosed within a white-bordered "box"

First there is an upside-down triangle with a dash over a T, then 91-56887 followed by a symbol, and then the following:

IMPUT 100V 50-60 Hz 130 VA
OUTPUT 16V-3.36A

... which would indicate that it is NOT usable in India!

Any assistance in understanding the above would be appreciated. I thank you.

Thank you sir. But what about that other data that I noted? It does seem conflicting.

Typically laptops are compatible with workldwode voltahges. To be safe, you could purchase a voltag converter and take it with you. I found http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...ac_adapter.jpg on the web. The image appears to have the same info you are referring to. May be someone else will have better insight..

george,

i am in india and i use an ibm laptop too. i checked my adaptor, and unlike what you mentioned, it shows 100-240 within the white box ( at the bottom ) too. So i guess you should reconfirm this with IBM service..

p.s. - i have heard that all decent laptops have adaptors that work in worldwide voltage ranges. will still be worth a check though.
