Thumbs up Ipod Media Reader introduced

Apple's partner Belkin has launched Media Reader which allows transferring images from digicam to IPod. Great accessory for photo enthusiasts but expensive!

And a last bit of iPod news: Apple now has iTunes available for Windows as a free download -- it matches the program used with Macs and should be much improved over the previously available software. So now the iPod can hold your music, your pictures, PDA info, play a few games, and take dictation. (for a price )

Unfortunately itunes and the very promising Napster (rising from the grave) only work on Windows XP and Windows 2000, leaving us Windows 98 users still in the dark.

me too, as you need OS X for Mac and I'm still back at 8.6 without the horsepower to move up. I'm not quite ready for an iPod yet anyway but here's hoping the price of them starts dropping and they get a bit more affordable as they sure look like a desirable bit of travel gear.

iPod is lovely. Stick all your cds in it and then there's no more flipping through CD cases to find what you want. I want the little speakers that go with it and use it for backups too. Mine 15 Mgb but I may get a bigger one

I agree. Which speakers are you using?
I was thinking of picking up the new Sony's.

I have the belkin media reader for the ipod & was sorely dissapointed with the transfer rate. For low/medium reolution it's okay, but anything big will take you hours and lots of AAA bateries...I begin to think that analog life was simpler...

So , how long would it take for say a 2 MB file ?

On another note (pardon the pun ) IPoding quotes a release saying that Belkin will be releasing a universal mike adapter for Ipod shortly.

Apple claims eight hours. The battery was originally non-replaceable, but I think it is possible now.

There is a app called iVolt , that gives you a battery voltage meter in the display.

The Media Reader has its own power supply.

First of all : I am not a ipoddie , just a wannabe. No actual experience claimed.

The thought behind iVolt (see link at ipodding.com) is to get a clearer view of battery consumption , but this seems a bit superfluos after what you´ve described.

To me , what with it being brand new, it seems like a warranty issue. Have you tried contacting your dealer ?

There is another solution , but not an elegant one : Belkin makes an external battery pack that you can piggyback to the iPod.

Hope you get it sorted out. With or without merchandise , I am sure you will have a great time .
