iPad's in India

Hi,

I'll be starting my travels in Hyderabad next week. I'm going to be bringing my iPad, which I bought in Japan, with me. I called my service provider here and they said I need to get a new service provider there, or pay 15USD per day for roaming.

I wanted to know:

What are peoples experiences, in general, with the iPad in India?

Does anyone have any experience bringing one in from a different country?

Any suggestions on which carrier to use for one month in India?

You can use it with a BSNL 3G Sim card here Link and that is definitely cheaper than the 15 USD / Day

and you might want to buy a MicroSim cutter , easily available on Ebay.

I do not understand what your query is.. How would an Ipad work any differently in India as compared to the way it works in Japan?
If you dont have time to buy a sim cutter then you can use your mobile phone and create a wifi network using a software like Joiku (google it) I use it on my Nokia and it works very well.

Bsnl is the only 3g network provider provider that covers all major cities and Newdelhi and Mumbai where bsnl is not present you can use Mtnl's network at no extra cost and Bsnl's 3g connection is pretty reasonably priced.

Japan is a closed system. I can use the service but my provider will charge roaming charges of 15USD per day. It's a silly price. I was told by the Apple Genius that I can remove my SIM card and get the service through an Indian phone provider. That's what I'm asking about.
