invertor questions
Hi All
Does anyone have any current experience regarding purchasing invertors.
I'm bringing my music equipment and computer and need to have surge
protection and also would like to be able to work if the power is down.
Any recommendations for a 1500 watt invertor that would give power
for a couple of hours when the power is down?
Thanks in advance

Buying a 1.5KW inverter should not be a problem in the cities. You haven't mentioned which city you need the info for. Sukam is a decent cost effective brand, Luminous is on the higher side. You will need 3 batteries, which cost INR 7k each + the inverter itself should cost around 10k (this is only approx. cost). But check out whether this gives surge protection (from their websites) as for uninterrupted supply one usually needs a UPS.
You may actually be ok with 1.25 kva (1.0 KW) depending on how much your music equipment takes up and whether you want to run both the comp and the music system for entire 2 hours. This will require only 2 batteries.
Thanks for your suggestion Rajatsurey. I need to power a keyboard, two seperate large amplified speakers, 2 external hardrives, a full on mac desktop, and a seperate powered sound card etc, and then probably a small lamp. I'll be staying outside Trivandrum. Again, thanks for your help. Best, john
