Internet cafes in A.P Orissa West Bengal

We will be of on Wednesday to India to north part of Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Kolkata & Murshdabad for two months.
Was intendind in taking my mobile phone as the children are always worried about us in our "Travels" till found out how much a minute cost for outgoing & incoming calls and just to take mobile for sending SMS (not cheap also) seems not worth it.
If anybody has any knowlage about the availabilty of Internet cafes out of the main citys so can keep in touch, a bit difficult to list out the places as part of the trip will be decided on the spot.
Apart from that if there is any other suggestions would be welcome.

There are loads of internet cafes all over India. I wouldn't be too concerned. Of course with some of them you would be quicker using carrier pigeon.

Another option is to buy a local sim card for your mobile phone, or use one the many telephone kiosks to phone home,
It's around 7 Rupees a minute from these kiosks.

Someone else can better explain the local sim card thing, there's so many choices it made my head spin and I gave up on it. You can do it though.
