internet cafe

I was visiting a net cafe in Mumbai and the guy asked for my ID saying it is the law. I had to saw him my passport and he duly noted all info in his register (Beaurocracy in action), I did not like to share my passport info, but seems to be the law!!

Due to the increase in cyber-crimes in India , it is mandatory to show some form of Identification card at many internet cafes. Ofcourse , as this in Inda we are speaking about, this is enforced in a few places and nt enforced in some.

I think this started 2 years back or so, when there were some incidents of dubious threat emails (I don't remember what it was exactly) being sent from some internet cafes? Yes they do ask for ID. It makes sense, because otherwise internet cafes turn into a hub of cyber-crime, you can't trace the person who sat there.

Exactly, this is the standard practice that is supposed to be followed by all cyber cafes, but few do.
