How to keep photo gear safe during monsoon time?

Does anybody have experience with that?

I heard silica gel helps...

Anything else I should consider?

As long as you take it out everyday, it should be ok. Silica Gel helps, but it might not be of a lot of use in really gloomy weather. So it also depends on where are you going to be. But fungus almost always stays away if you are managing to take your camera out very frequently. Its long confinements in dark closets that is the problem.

Back in the analog days , I had a Canon T90 tah went bonkers in monsoonal Dharamsala.Every evening I put a a plastic bag on my table, filled up a plate of dry rice , placed the stripped open camera body on chop sticks above the rice , tied together the plastic bag , asked for VishwakarmaŽs aid and went to bed.
DonŽt know if it was the rice or the prayers that did it , but it would work again in the morning.

Also had a small black bag , also stuffed with rice , sewn up. Alternated between keeping it with my camera gear and and drying it in the sun.

Most of us angrezis think just of the monsoon as a problem , but the views are fantabolous just after the rain.

Beware a transition from cold AC to humid heat; the condensation will form rivers.
