How is MTNL 3G service in Delhi & Gurgaon?
I will be visiting Delhi (GK-II) and Gurgaon (DLF Phase IV) for a few weeks and I am bringing a GSM/3G-capable smartphone with me. I know from prior experience that Vodafone has excellent call quality in those locations, but no 3G service yet, so I'm trying to decide whether to get a Vodafone SIM or an MTNL 3G SIM.
Can anyone comment on the MTNL 3G network quality in those areas?

Call quality is good, however, network reliability is suspect! If I were you I would get both the SIM cards.
If you are arrving in Jan, Get Airtel - their 3G service would be up and running by then.
I've found about half a dozen different sets of APN settings to get 3G in Delhi on my Motorola DROID 2 Global and none so far have worked. I have managed to get the "3G" and "H" icons in the notification bar but when I open up my browser and try to load Google I get the following error: "ReferenceError: gp is not defined"
First I went into the dialer and entered *#*#4636#*#* to get to the Testing menu -> Phone information -> Set preferred network type to "WCDMA only"
Then I went into the network selection menu and selected the "MTNL 3G" network and created an APN with the following settings:
APN: gprsppsdel
Proxy: 172.16.31.10
Port: 9201
Username: mtnl
Password: mtnl123
Authentication type: PAP
APN type: default
(All other values empty or automatic)
The "3G" and "H" icons indicate that I'm getting the signal at least, but I am not able to actually get data. Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?

You don't have to put any proxy . I filled in the value for only the APN and it was working for me. Your APN is wrong. Put the APN accrding to this:
SERVICE APN
3G Prepaid pps3g
3G Postpaid mtnl3g
HSDPA Prepaid ppshsdpa
HSDPA Postpaid mtnlhsdpa

Unfortunately neither of these worked
When I did those settings the 3G and H notifications I was getting disappeared. Apparently it's a little different for Android phones. The settings I found were for the Nexus One (also Android) from this link: http://www.technixupdate.com/working...hi-and-mumbai/
It gets me the signal notifications but I think one setting must be off since I can't actually get the data.
