Having problem skype to India landline
I am having problems using Skype to call an Indian landline. Skype Test Call works fine, but repeatedly the call will connect and someone will answer but they cannot hear me on the other end. I am currently calling from the US, but I have had this problem earlier calling skype to mobile in India, just didn't think much of it then. Is this just bad luck or is there something keeping Voip calls from connecting to India?
The only easy way for me to call late at night (day time India time) is thru Skype! Grrr... ![]() |

Strange. I just called India and three other countries today - all landlines. Do check the volume on your PC (I am using builtin mic, and a mac)

Hmm, I've never had a problem w Skype to any Indian line. In fact, i talked to my parents a few hrs ago today. I noticed today I had to upgrade the software but that was easy, didn't cause any problems.

I call an Indian mobile number using Skype-out from the US (when I am here) 3 times a week, and have never had a problem.
I do occasionally have a problem with skype-to-skype calls between India and America, and have always attributed it to the slow internet connection and crappy computers in the internet cafes of India. The "big" skype problem for me is the SMS function, as I send it once and it delivers 4-12 copies of the same message to the Indian mobile phone I am sending it to. I've practically stopped using it because of that headache.

This is not a skype problem per se. It is however a problem encountered by quite a few international SMS/MMS gateways that talk to carriers gateways, specially in US and India. I have used Callwave and SMSmac client in the past without much pain (occasional glitches are but par-the-course)

I've been on the landline end of this transaction a lot, and it's really a headache. Sometimes I can't hear the Skype caller, sometimes we start talking and get cut off silently, and sometimes it becomes this weird repetitive time-lag sound and I can't understand anything.
