SIM is an acronym, INSAT is, also.

GSLV is not, it is an abbreviation.

ECR is also not an acronym, but I believe there is a technical term for such misuses as...

PIN number

ECR Road

and other such tautologies. Remind me, someone?

The tautology is in talking about Number numbers and Road roads!

Have to confess to sometimes having a "pin number", and if I live here much longer (very near the ECR) I might also end up telling people I'm near the "East Coast Road Road"
