Flat irons Plug Type G or C?
Hi,
I'm going to be visiting India later this year and would like to buy a flat iron that I can use there since my US 110v flat iron won't work. I'm also planning to travel to England next year and would like to carry it with me there as well. Based on my one time experience as an Indian moving to the United States I believe it would be easier to get a UK to India adapter rather than vice versa and am planning to buy one with a Plug Type G ( http://www.folica.com/Sedu_Ionic_Cera_d1782.html ) instead of a Plug Type C (http://www.folica.com/Sedu_Ionic_Cera_d1784.html). I understand that this would work since both countries use 120 to 240 v and function on 50 Hz mains- all I would need is a plug adapter. Am I missing something? I have read other posts regarding this subject on this site and others and haven't so far seen anything to the contrary. On the other hand, I'm not a technical person and would really appreciate input from those that know their Electricity better than I do. Thanks! |

Irons
If you are staying in more expensive hotels, there will be a little iron in your room, but generally not. Reason being you can have your clothes, including your underwear, ironed for very cheap by others. Plus, everything is done very nicely. I've never had a bad ironing experience.

Plug Type G with Adapter for India
Hello SitaParityaga,
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post. I was actually referring to a flat iron for my hair My query refers to the safety of using plug type G (with an adapter) in India (as opposed to plug type C) since both types are 120 to 240 v on 50Hz. As for accommodation, I will be staying with family, so I will have access to basic home electrical fixtures.Quote:

I've mostly run into the outlets for plugs with two round pins. Does that help?

Flat iron
I bought a 1 inch flat iron two years ago in Delhi. It was 450 rupees and has worked well during two trips. I found it in a small booth in the middle circle of Palika Bazaar, though you could probably find one at any place that sells small electrical products.
