Question Digital camera repair in India (Delhi/Chennai)

Hi,

has anyone got any info of a good place where to take my digicam for repair. The warranty has ended and the camera wasn´t expensive or anything so repairing it here in Finland would probably cost more than what camera cost when I bought it two year ago. So maybe I should give it try in India next November. (The LDC-panel has gone blank... maybe there is some connection/wire loose...)

Cheers!

Emilii

In Delhi if you go to Khan Market, the front side. You will see a very large Camera Shop there and they do good repairs. They are also honest. If they can't fix it they will tell you.

Remember that "Have you had any electrical items repaired while you have been away?" is a security question you'll likely be asked to board a plane.

Really? That must be one the newly developed security measures...

I guess I can see their point. Sort of.

Though, as one doesn;t usually give one's flight itinary to the repair man, ...maybe not.

Is this a Sony digital camera?

Is this a Sony digital camera? If yes, then it can be serviced free of charge. I just did mine.

Sony cameras with defective CCDs

Sony is servicing the cameras with defective CCDs free of charge. If you have any of the following models, you can go to sony support site for the country you are in and get the details. I am in US. I had a P-51 and P-8 with blank screen which Sony promptly serviced in a week. They sent a prepaid fedex shipping label to send my cameras.

Sony:

Cyber-shot DSC-F717, DSC-P10, DSC-P12, DSC-P2, DSC-P31, DSC-P32, DSC-P51, DSC-P52, DSC-P7, DSC-P71, DSC-P72, DSC-P8, DSC-P92, DSC-U10, DSC-U20, DSC-U30, DSC-U60, and DSC-V1
CD Mavica MVC-CD250, MVC-CD400, and MVC-CD500
FD Mavica MVC-FD100 and MVC-FD200

Yeah even I got it done at sony service center. I dropped my camera from first floor and lost all the hope. lens came out and electrical were dead. anyway I gave it to sony service station. got the estimate of 3k.
when I went to collect the camera, they gave me a bill of Rs ZERO. I asked them few times if there is a mistake in the bill, he laughed and said no. I asked if he is sure about that he smiled again and said "absolutely".
I am a sony loyalist now. have bought a wega TV after that.

Hi,

I had bought a brand new Nikon S4 digicam from Chicago, US. I took it here to New Delhi, India. It stopped working after only three months of use. I took it to Nikon service center. They were asking Rs. 8000 for the repair job, as US warranty was not applicable in India. The camera had costed me Rs. 10000. So, it was not appropriate for me to spend another Rs. 8000 on it. All this has happened some two years ago in 2006.

I have recently visited the same Nikon service center with the same faulty camera. Now they are telling me different problem in the camera. Earlier they were telling me that lens is faulty and requires replacement. Now they are telling me shutter mechanism is faulty and would be replaced. Now they are quoting Rs. 4500 for repair work. They are confusing me, and I doubt their credibility. I can agree that repair cost must have gone down in two years, but how come the problem has changed in two years when camera is lying dead in my cupboard.

Please guide me about some legitimate digicam repair shop in and around New Delhi.

Thank you in advance.

Digicam repair

Similar sort of thing happened with my Canon digicam. Canon master service centre asked for Rs. 12000 when a similar configuration new digicam was available for less than Rs 10000.

Go to Esplanade Road Camera market opposite Red Fort in old Delhi. Numerous shops there.. Climb up to anyone of them and tell your exact problem... just remember not to leave your camera with them and insist on getting it repaired in front of you. Repair cost will be what they ask for.. not much bargaining possible.. but it will be much less than what the company guys ask...and rest assured that digicam will be repaired.
