Hi,

I bought a 3G sim in Delhi and moved to MP. The first time I recharged my 3G package I was in khujaraho and I just told them it was a Delhi sim and they looked at a computer and did something different and it was fine! I am now back in gwalior and need to top up 3G soon but all the little shops round here don't seem to know how to do it? I will be moving around so I don't think there is much point in getting an MP sim.

Someone told me if I get them to too up rs255 this would give me 1gb of 3G, does anyone know if this is true or otherwise another way?

It's even more annoying because I know it must be possible to do because it has been done before!!

Thanks in advance!

Jen

1. Goto a cyber cafe / or if you have 3G
2. Open http://www.airtel.in/mobile/prepaid/recharge-online
3. Change region to DELHI NCR
3. recharge your phone with a local debit / credit card / net banking

P.S. From the airtel web site - 1gb 3g data is 255 INR for a Delhi SIM

Hi,

Thank you! That is a very helpful reply, unfortunately I was already aware of this but the 'local credit card/net banking' thing is an issue as all my cards are UK cards!

Tried to get a friend at work to do it but unfortunately no one I have asked has been set up for the process of online payments via their net bank and I for want to be too much trouble!!!

Any other ideas??

Thanks!

You can recharge anywhere in the country, as long as you know the correct amount to recharge with, which depends on your circle. (Certain specific rupee amounts do certain things, like 3G rather than voice credit.) The location of the recharge shop is completely irrelevant and they do not need to "do something different".

I suggest not asking them questions that they may not know the answer to (and which they may not even understand since you are a foreigner and also are probably asking in less-than-clear terms). Just give them the number and provider (Airtel) and recharge amount and tell them to recharge it.

If you have internet access, which you clearly do, you can easily look up the recharge amounts for Delhi circle on Airtel's web site. No need to ask here. But I'll give you the link, which I got in 10 sec from Google:
http://www.airtel.in/mobile/prepaid/recharge-online

Thank you very much for your help, India mike is very helpful for us foreigners; I had a little look online but the terminology 'circle' was a little lost on me so I wanted to be sure. I'm glad it only took you 10 seconds to find that link I'm sure it will be very helpful to me.

Thanks again!
