Partly on topic -
Is the time thing fixed yet?

EDIT:
I see it is, except that the post-times which were 1 hour ahead yesterday, have regressed and are now one hour behind?
Never mind, so long as it's ok now.

Read the text of posts #470 to 473, i.e. the times mentioned, and then check the posting time according to IM (above the IDs).

Why not? It's a great thread. Methinks, what with my fondness for the hills, I HAVE to watch 'Kanchenjunga' sometime - never heard of it. Ok, OT - I shud better talk about it in that thread.

I wish you'd never mentioned Dell.

I've been looking at the 2408WFP. It's new in USA and there isn't even a price on the Indian site yet, but seems it'll be about Rs30,000

Nick, methinks a Samsung or Viewsonic will be sufficient for your use. I have a Samsung 19" LCD monitor and it's good enough. Go for an exchange offer for your existing CRT monitor. You might not get a good price if you try to sell it by itself. If you want to spend a lot of money then buy an LCD TV which has VGA input, but that would be an overkill as you don't watch TV .

Once u've copied the link, click the icon with the globe-and-paperclip above the write-box, paste the link into the box that opens, click OK to the right, and Bob's your nephew.

That's if u want to make a clickable link out of something u've typed. Otherwise your previous method shud normally have worked, maybe it didn't becos of the dots in-between where the url was too long.

You can also change the text between the sets of square brackets to something more meaningful.[RL="http://abcdefgh"]Change this text[/RL]. I have removed the U in URL to make it (tag) visible.

Yeah, that's what I meant too in my last para. Inadequately expressed though.

I used to have a nice Philips LCD TV as my monitor. Used to use it as a TV too in London, but hadn't done here. It was only a 15", though. Unfortunately Philips here tell us that the spare required will cost more than a new TV .

Was thinking about that particular wildly expensive Dell because of all the inputs. Used to use my Philips, for instance, for playing back from the video camera. Connect up a DVD player, and point it towards the sofa is another idea, as is plug in a set-top box (who needs a TV with a tuner when everything comes by set-top box?). (Errr... ever heard someone trying to justify spending money ?)

Hey! Whatever I buy, I'm going to be spending quite a few hours a day in front of. My small pension has been, so far, as we don't need it to eat, my travel and gadget allowance. I could stretch to something expensive.

Brishti, Yes, your Dell link was my starting place, and I movea around from there. I've deleted that email from your post as requested. I'm going to hold back for a month or three and see what happens to those Dell prices. Might get back to you if you have good contacts. Thanks.

Links... see that globe and chain link icon, third from the right on the Quick Reply box? That's what it does. Highlight the words you want to show, click on that icon, and enter (or paste, as you probably CTR-C'ed it from another window) the URL. All done!

For those wanting to demonstrate the syntax of doing this stuff by hand, might I also mention the NOPARSE tag?

Here's one I prepared earlier:

Change this text

Which, of course, I typed as:

Change this text
