He has that effect on me too KS! I burst out often into loud laughing at some of his comments and Mr K thinks I'm ready for Agra pagal hospital as they call it!
Back to business - thanks guys - very good advice for me here too - so will do as suggested, battery for laptop when power cut, and that thunder storm hint is excellent. I never knew that one at all! Though come to think of it, one time in the Blue Mountains a bomb went off (lightning) split an enormous tree opposite and came down the telephone line on the bedside table beside me, danced through the room and seemed to go out the window... very scary stuff that was.

YUes, they do, but I am doubtful of them protecting against a full strike.
We had lightening surge protectors in our computer room at the old office, great hefty things, they were.

hmmmmmm........
maybe this thread needs to be renamed the "connecting broadband in India, PC power supply, how the Capt can help your life" thread? There's a lot more in this thread now then just configuring an MTNL connection.Or maybe just "configuring broadband/ PC power protection in India" |

And already the title is modified - excellent information here for both subjects. The 3 hour morning cut now on and I have only modem/router (blow you guys - I feel I have to be politically correct here now! From now on I shall call it m/r) AND Don't start an argument again re it's CORRECT name!!)on the power line and pulled out the plug to laptop which is now on battery. The funny thing is sometimes m/r doesn't switch off when invertor changes over, sometimes it does. But it's no hassle to re-start again. Only once have I had connection cutting with phone upstairs ringing and being answered - most times no effect and also there is no sound effect either when both are running so I think I'm lucky.

and what's politics got to do with it? PS - if nick can have abbreviations versus acronyms, then I can have routers versus modems. ![]() |
