Computer by Poste Restante

Hey all! So I'm already in Asia, and I'm getting a laptop sent to me by a friend (yay second hand goods and their cheapness!). But of course I don't exactly have an address in Delhi. If i got a laptop sent Poste Restante, would that be the stupidest, shortest lived ownership of a laptop ever?

And the bigger question; how do i get that laptop to India short of flying home for it?

Thanks!

If it's really important to you,

to get it, you might try DHL or some carrier other than the postal service.

Reminds me of a story . . . was living in Varanasi for six months in '99-'00 . . . had painted a watercolor for a friend of mine . . . wanted it to arrive un-spindled/-bent/-mutilated . . . wrote on the front of the package, "Fragile! Do Not Bend!" . . . took it in the post office near Asi Ghat . . . post master looked at the package and handed it back to me . . . I asked why . . . he said, "Here we bend."

No address...

So again, I wouldn't mind using DHL or something similar...but i don't have an address in Delhi. If i stay at a nice hotel, could I receive a package there - and if so, any suggestions on where?

Any other bright ideas?

First you need to check with DHL/ similar company if they can send the package to a temp location like a hotel.
If they say Yes, you need to check with the hotel if you can get a package delivered at the hotel.

Usually, DHL would give you the package personally, not to anyone else. If all this is done, you should be good to hit Start

Usually, here we bend (the rules too!!!).

It may cost you almost as much as the cost of the cheap laptop to send it by DHL or any similar courier company, I guess!!! So would it be worth sending it by post/courier?

Cheers,
Aadil.
