Cheap Cellphone & service to check Y!mail/Gmail

Hello,

I need an cell phone to check emails (Yahoo/Gmail). I need basic cheap email service (via mobile browser ?), not expensive Blackberry.
Cell phone will be used for emergency calls ONLY (very few outgoing India calls)
I will be using it in Delhi, Dehradun, Musoorie, Bombay/Poona hills.

I want the cheapest cellphone and service.

Please advise on both non 3G and 3G cheapest options (cellphone + service).

Thank you.

You can buy nokia phones with java, gprs functions and use AIRTEL mobile prepaid card.

Nokia phone will cost you around 4K onwards, I am not sure about prices since there are so many models, but for internet ./ websurfing nokia will be best.

As far as 3G is concerned, it wont be worth investing in 3G phone, because only certain operators provide 3G service that too in selected Cities / Areas.

If you want further cheap phones you can get CHINESE / KOREAN mobile phones for 2K onwards but these phones dont have guarantee and there is a question mark on their performance.

Well "The Mobile Store" is one of the better places in India to buy cellphones. They have a shop in every area and in most major Cities.

Well at Rs29000 . This is not the cheapest model around here. This model may not even be avialable in most of the shops. If you want a rouch phone there are Other Samsung models and LG models avialable under Rs 15000.

oops I am sorry I forgot to clarify my view, you can view the websites to view the feature, price of model of cellphones, but for buying please dont order online, personally visit any shop and buy, because many buyers have bad experiences in online shopping sites like ebay, rediff and so on.

Thanks for all replies !

Two options suggested were (+ Airtel card ?) :
* Nokia 2626 (2K): lowest end; Good price & battery life BUT letters/numbers on 2626 keypad are very small.
* Nokia 3110 (4K): more features.

Other options ?

Nokia 2700 classic (4K) is newer and said to be replacement of 3110. Better choice ?

I think 311o classic is good one, go for it and if 2700 is better replaceement then go for it too. Nokia is best for newbies, I mean wont give any problem.

Sorry i'm a little offtopic.
I'm not out for the cheepest, i compare with Sweden, Samsung is close to i pay only half the price in India,
Sony Ericsson is only 25% cheeper, and i think Nokia too, if i compare to the price with Sweden.
That's why i by a high end Samsung. and with Airtel Internet surf, that's all i gonna need in India.

Looks good, but 8k+ !

Current choices:
* Nokia 7210 Supernova - lower talk & standbytime
* Nokia 5220 XpressMusic - Better batterylife, costlier
* Nokia 2700 classic - Smaller letters

Will look around for some more time !
