I am in a place where the only source of electricity is a neon light.

Is there anyway to charge a laptop using this one and only source of juice ?

On a 'lighter' side- Where does neon light get electricity from?

No, there is no way (solar cell? file under unpractical ideas!) other than by tapping in to the electricity supply to the entire unit, hence Ashishkul's question.

The question is mysterious. The neon light must be plugged into the mains, and you can add an extra plug there for additional appliances, if the owner allows you.

That would be unusual. It would normally be wired to its switch. I'd expect to find a pair of wires sticking out of the wall, twisted to a pair of wires sticking out of the light unit, and covered in insulating tape. This might be hidden away behind the unit.

Be careful. Neon lights operate at many thousands of volts. Don't get on the wrong side of the transformer.

I have heard fluorescent tube lights referred to as neon lights. Which are we talking about here?
