calling an Indian mobile from Canada???????
Hi guys,
So I need your help yet again. My family is haveing a horrible time trying to call my mobile from Canada. They said they've tried everything (dialling 011 (the code to call international from Canada) then 91 (india's code) then 11 (delhis code) then they've tried calling my number iwth a 0 before the 98 and without and nothing seems to work. Can anybody help us out??? I know my phone accepts calls internationally (and I do know I'm charged for this) so I don't know what's going on! Thanks, Mag |

They just need to dial:
+91-mobile number (without any 0 before the mobile number) Example: if the mobile number is: 9812345678 then when dialing from outside india, dial: +91-9812345678 if dialing from with in India but from different state, then dial: 0-9812345678 If dialing locally (same city/state), dial: 9812345678 Hope this helps

i'm still confused
Thank you for the reply...
So does that mean they don't have to put the delhi code in (the 11)?? and what about the 011 code that I thought you had to dial first to reach a number outside of Canada?? And this may seem like the dumbest question ever (but I'm new to the world of mobiles) the "+" you put down...what does that mean? Do you mean that's where they'd put the international calling code??? Thanks again! mag |

The Delhi code of 011 (or 11 while dialing from outside India) is when calling a landline (fixed line) phone and not applicable for mobiles.
91 is the international code for India and applies to all cases when calling anywhere in India from outside India. '+' is for prefix you need to add and this depends on the country FROM where you are calling to India. In many cases its 0091-9812345678 so '+' is replaced by '00'. In some cases you don't need anything to add before 91 and just dial 91-9812345678. As mentioned, it depends on the phone service provider (telecom company) in the country, from where one is dailing into India. |

indian cellphone?
Is this is an Indian cellphone? I call Indian cell's from Ottawa everyday.
Use first dial 011, then 91, then the cellphone number i.e if the cell number is 9811660616 then 011-91-9811660616 good luck, Rohan

Reliance and a few other providers (not airtel, hutch or idea) have had their incoming international facility blocked by BSNL.
