Buying and fixing gadgets in south india

Hi,

Lots of tech questions! India has killed any technical courage I may once have had (or pretended to have). I'm now in Goa but plan to be in Bangalore soon, so can go either place. I'm looking for shop recommendations for the following:

My flash stick and small memory card reader (Compact Flash) are broken. Anyone know where to fix or buy new (cheap) in Goa or Bangalore? The memory card reader I got in China for about $10...

My Canon digital camera is making funny noises and I think it needs to be cleaned (sand and/or salty air). Advice besides calling the Service Center?

Any advice on where (in India) to get a *cheap* used laptop for the least amount of hassle? Need it only for word processing (going online and doing photos/music would be nice, but not necessary), but I do need it to be reliable.

Thanks very much!

Your Canon camera can only be fixed at a Canon service centre. Unfortunately, my experience of digital camera repairs is that not even the manufacturer can mend them - it's probably time to buy a new one!

I'm not sure that there is such a thing as a cheap used laptop in India.

A card reader can be picked up at any computer store, but if you are buying a laptop it will probably have a CF slot built in.

I bought a second hand laptop in Dubai. I've replaced the CMOS battery(had to get it from the UK), I need a new main battery and I've bought a D-Link USB hub. I might as well have spent a few quid more and bought new.
.....and they're a bugger to work on.
