AT&T India 60 Plus plan doesn't work in all US geographical areas
I found that out the hard way, so be careful!
My in-laws live in a small town in PA that is not served by Verizon. Since Hubby and I are moving to India as expats, we've been researching calling plans to India and came across AT&T's 'India 60 Plus' plan. After talking them into switching to AT&T domestic long distance so they could qualify for the plan, we come to find out that they aren't eligible because the only local phone service provider in their small town is Frontier, which isn't compatible with AT&T's international plans. (AT&T failed to let my in-laws know this before happily switching them to AT&T long distance.)
Anyway, a word of warning to other expat families who are setting up India calling plans for their extended families back home. Not all India calling plans are compatible with all local telecom systems. If your local telecom company isn't a giant like Verizon, be proactive and ask up front first if you are eligible for the plan before signing up.
