Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced Tab Under the "Browsing" section, you should see "Disable script debugging". Make sure that is checked. You might have to restart IE for this to take effect.

Same for the pics - u can still see all the pics u want. Either there will be a grayed-out area for a pic, with a link next to it, clicking on which will 'show' that pic (u might not want to see all pics on a page - that's when this helps), OR by right-clicking on the grayed-out area and then clicking on 'Show Picture", u'll be able to see that particular pic. These settings are useful for very slow connections like what's happening when u use GPRS. It's just that u then control directly what u see/hear, rather than letting the browser/website do it for u. I suggest these becos it might help speed up your browsing a little, and espesh stop your phone from heating up. See if it does, if not, u can always go back to the old settings. Cheers. Quote:
Something like not being able to prove a negative ("I cannot prove that I'm not in Pushkar at the moment" )Obviously the site's software blindly adds one hour at "this time of year" if the DST setting is ON, even for non-DST zones. I wonder if it does it correctly for Aus/NZ where DST kicks in not at "this time of year" (March/April to Oct), but Oct to March! ![]() Last edited by Dilliwala : Sep 25th, 2007 at 16:21. nadreg, When/where u changed the default time for IM to IST, is there also an option there for having DST on/off? And if so, is it set to ON by any chance? |

If u had clicked the link, u wud have seen I was trying to attract your attention (cough, nudge!) gently to a question I had asked re the short-cut. Unless it's a secret, that's cool. |

Many thanks Nadreg - did what you said and now, no more! You were correct about it. It must be so obvious to techie experts - to me it is all new territory. i write every new thing I learn in a notebook "Stuff about computers"
Dilliwalla - thanks for that reply re sound etc. I have filed it into documents for reference and will do as you suggest when slow. Yes, it plays via Real Player, and is online. OT - I was nearly killed when India won the cricket! Read about it on the proper post!!

Sorry...forgot (obviously distracted by the cricket). Its just a short cut on the desktop of my ethernet Lan connection. If you go into start>connect to> show all connections you should be presented with a completely list of all LAN and dial up connections. I've put a short cut of my primary LAN connection on the desktop so that when I leave the room I can disable the ethernet with a right click to the short cut (I could probably write a script - but a single right click is fine).
On another note - still tracking down the time server problem. My router is syncing with the time server no problem - but somehow XP is getting blocked. Obviously I've got a firewall rule somewhere that is blocking NTP/ SNTP somewhere - just got to find it...... |

In your case u installed a firewall, I'm only using XP's own firewall, and have the settings so that it warns me if the firewall is about to block a particular application. Still the time-sync doesn't work. Since both Nick and u say that it worked in the past, I'm sure it's a case of MS giving something with one hand and taking it back with the other!

Slightly off on a tangent here from your discussion fellas but thought i'd let Dilliwalla know that this afternoon GPRS so slow i switched off the pictures. It worked with IM but when I tried makemytrip.com was hopeless for clicking on links etc. and very slow. Put the pictures back and then I could follow the page! And the speed no different - slow but working. So have now restored the pics again.. Everything else including sound switched off. Well, sorry to interrupt, but the Thread is about slow mobiles....!!
