3G (Internet) Coverage in rural Tamil Nadu
Hi there,
after a long period of thought and an even longer application process, we've decided to move to India to manage a guest house. The guest house is located near the village of Athoor in Dindigul District, Tamil Nadu (Map: http://g.co/maps/9m6bb ).
My question is, what is internet coverage like in rural Tamil Nadu? I saw loads of 3G dongles last time we were in India, but will we be too far from Dindigul itself to benefit from 3G coverage? What are the other options (hopefully there are some)?
Thanks in advance.

BSNL will have excellent service on its wiseline phone service. If its truly rural as per bsnl definition the tariff too would be attractive. If you want wireless, i think you will get EDGE. 3G may not be available.

In my experience, it's not necessarily true (as far as broadband service is concerned). BSNL's rural/"semi-urban" infrastructure doesn't necessarily allow for "excellent" broadband service. For example, their "upto 2 Mbps" service barely supports 256 Kbps in my "semi-urban" abode. They themselves plead helplessness in view of the available infrastructure! Yet they go on misleading/cheating people by marketing such products where they can't deliver!Still, it is the best available option, since 3G is not available in my place yet, and EDGE crawls at around 10 Kbps when it works!
I don't know if rural Tamilnadu is any better.
