Question Wish to tavel to Manali by air

I wish to travel to Manali by air from Mumbai: which is the best way to reach there the quickest way? I was told there are Air Deccan flights to Kulu from Delhi as are Jagson Airline flights. However, Ive been told Jagson cancels at the drop of a hat. How about Air Deccan? Is it ok to visit Manli in late Feb? How cold will it be then and will I get a clear view of the mountains? How far is Manali from Kulu airport? Can I safely book ahead without fearof the flight getting cancelled?

The approach to the airport is along a gorge. Planes have to use this corridor to land & take off. Wind direction & weather at times could pose difficulties so flights do get cancelled.
Airdeccan would be a better choice than Jagsons in terms of price.
Feb end will be quite cold in Manali so carry woolens. Yes the view is clearer in winter. Expect good sunshine.

Bhuntar aiport is becoming renown for problems they create for travellers. They do not tell well in advance about any cancellations and there had been problems with refunds also. This is a gamble..wanna take it?

I have been told OFF HAND that one of the common reason for this secret and last minute cancellations is few confirmed seats in craft. This means that this is not financially feasable to operate flight..so weather becomes BAD !!

Can someone tell me how frequently has Deccan been on schedule to Bhuntar; since I intend travelling in late Feb, are their enough chances that I will get a flight (Deccan) from Delhi to Bhuntar and that it will not get cancelled? Shall I go ahead, then, with my plans? And, what is the taxi scene to Manali from the airport, i.e. what are the rates?

I am checking the same thing quite regularly from Air Deccan site and the (Delhi-Kullu & return) flight got delayed for 20-30 minutes sometime, but they havn't canceled it from last 1 week at least.

Thanks a lot, mate! How does one make his way from the airport.. any ideas? Taxi rates, etc.? Or does it make better sense to make advance bookings?
