I know the OP asked about UK but i would like to make the same request of US travelers. Any good websites to have on hand? What about these travel agencies that also consolidate tickets and advertize in Indo-American newspapers. Also will websites and others work with me to cask in frequent flyer tickets (BA) in addition to purchase of two tickets? Thanks..

BA seem to have a lot of sales: it is worth checking their site and seeing the price. My BA ticket just now was the cheapest I've ever had.
