This is the reply from an e.mail i sent regarding international credit cards.........

Thank you for your email.

Please note that we do not accept payments through Foreign-Issued Master and Visa credit cards. However now online reservation can be processed only by using Diners or American Express Credit Cards. Kindly note that guest needs to carry the credit card used for reservation while traveling and in case if the guest is not the card holder, then the guest has to carry an authority letter from the credit card holder authorizing the use of the credit card for the purchase of the tickets. The letter should contain the name of the Guests, date of journey and the sector on which the journey is made.

Assuring you of our best attention at all times.

What should i do booking domestic flights with all this inter credit card fiasco

It's getting ridiculous now. I can't find one Indian domestic airline that will accept foreign CreditCards except for Diners and Amex. Should i hang tight and maybe wait to see if they relax this policy or should i book with somebody like makemytrip.com who seem to be recommended on here. I need to take three internal flights over the Christmas period and could do with sorting all of it out now. What to do??

Exclamation Same Problem`

I had the same problem. Finally had to pay extra to a travel agent just to use my credit card. Ended up having to buy another ticket at the airport because my flight was late. Nitemare. I think use a reliable site or travel agent.

What do travel agents charge?

Is it just a service charge or a percentage of the total fare?

Do they charge per transaction or per person?

How does it work, do you pay the travel agent, and then they pay the airline?

Thanks for any info.

Travel agents are more of a problem in low cost carriers like Air Deccan and Spice jet..

Since these are low cost airlines, the margins are very low for the agents and the reputed and established ones in Delhi, actually do not work for them...

Secondly Air Deccan has a lot of problem with its agents, AD never pay up on time and this is not acceptable given a meagre margin of Rs.50 or so on every ticket (passenger)..

I have been hearing really bad feedbacks about many leading online tour operators (including makemytrip.com). I have never booked tickets or tours from them but if someone has visited mouthshut.com you will find pages full of grievance.
I will advise asking a local frined to book the flight on your behalf (if possible). Otherwise there is no other option left but to approach a travle operator.

Fares in Indian rupees were / are generally lower than in foreign currencies . Even from abroad one could book tickets in rupees with even foreign credit cards , cheaper , till about 3 months ago . Now if one tries to make a booking , the fares are quoted in USD if the booking systems of jet / kingfisher are accessed from overseas ; so higher . pls check on this . Travel agents in india can get atleast 20% cheaper fares for the same flights .

it helps...

...if you have a sister with an indian credit card! i had to ask mine to help me out when i came across the above stumbling block trying to book a ticket with jet airways recently. this was after my travel agent had given up trying to book it for me - he gave me some unitelligible reason but i suspect it was because it wasn't really worth his while.

I just used my United States Visa Card to book a flight with Go Air. I had no problems and it processed my card.

Now everyone at work is telling me I should have had to pay extra. I'm confused.

Credit card fraud????

Can someone please explain how all this uproar as come about with not being able to book from abroad. How can you commit so much credit card fraud for this to happen? I am confused, if say someone used my credit card to book an internal flight in India in my name surely there are so many checks how would it be possible to board a flight on a stolen credit card. Stealing goods from shops is a different story but taking flights? or is there more to this than meets the eye??

Yep, they want foreigners to pay higher prices. Indian railways allows you to use your foreign vreditcrad without a problem.
