Varanasi to hampi to mandu - flying
Hi, I am planning to get from Varanasi to hampi and then hampi to mandu by plane to shorten travel time as my trip is limited to a month. I am aware that there aren't airports in such areas but was wondering the quickest way to travel between such places using domestic flights. I could travel to mandu from udaipur if it is easier to travel by plane to the latter. Equally, advice on possible locations in between hampi and Mandu would be much appreciated, however my time in India is very limited! Thanks!!

What is your current plan? How many days in total do you have?
You can fly from Varanasi to Bangalore and take a train to Hospet, the railway station for Hampi.

... Again come back to Bangalore or go to Hyderabad and then take flight to Indore... Airport for Mandu! There is also an overnight train between Udaipur and Indore (19330 Udaipur Express: Udaipur City Dep 20:35 Indore Jn Arr 08:20)
Thanks a lot for you quick and helpful response- you have calmed my mind! I'm going for exactly a month on the 1st ofnaugust but may extend to 5 weeks if possible. I plan to go from Delhi to rishikesh (including the valley of flowers) to varanasi to Hampi (I realise this is extremely out of the way but am determined to go after failing to do so on my last trip due to illness) to mandu and then Udaipur and pushkar. Do you have any suggesitions on the journey from Hampi to mandu?
Thank you prakaant- this is helping me a lot. Another question- I have read and heard stories about flights from Varanasi- I'm sure it's safe but just wanted to check the reliability of the airport with others

This is an idea I have thought about but would prefer definite sun to go on a beach rather than the unpredictable rain of the monsoons. What do you think?
Just a quick aside here...if you plan to travel by train, make sure you book your tickets well in advance! Train bookings are notoriously difficult to get!
For Goa, yep its monsoon time till September and you are likely to get loads of rain...BUT you could enjoy enjoy a spectacular trip trainspotting underneath the Dudhsagar falls. http://in.lifestyle.yahoo.com/photos...341580442.html

Thanks sidch- I realise I definitely need to be sorting things out ASAP! Always one to be last minute.. Not always a helpful attribute..! With rain in goa- will Hampi be pretty soaked too then? I know this is the unpredictable monsoon that we're talking about here though..
