Hi, I'm Baldy first time poster, long-time reader - hope this is on target
Maybe non-sensical question, but for those who have travelled from Australia - in high season fares to India can be way expensive. From others' experience, can it be advantageous to buy return tickert Aus to BKK, and purchase a return ticket BKK-Delhi or Mumbai or Kolkata in Kao Sahn Rd? I've heard that BKK being a major hub, good deals are possible Regards Hirsute-challenged chap |

Sure there is allot of tickets on Kho san Road (every next shop) and they have some good prices there.
I got a ticket from Bankok to Kolkata for about 100 USD there. Good flight and all. Good luck mate and wellcome to iMIKE. ![]()

some typical fares to India from a KSR bucket shop are:
BKK-DEL-BKK 12,500 thai bhat (approx $300 US) BKK-BOM-BKK 14,200 (approx $345 US) http://olavi.com/ (they also show fares to Australia at 18,500 bhat or around $450) you could probably do better in person on KSR, but if you are going high season it might be better to book ahead |

And you should be able to get Bangkok-Kolkata-Bangkok for less than 10000 baht - approx US$250.

Hi Baldy
the biggest problem i have with buying tickets here is that the system is they will book people on evry flight going and sometimes these people don't have to confirm for ages and you end up waitlisted waiting for people to drop out. usually waitlists will clear but one of mine this year back to new zealand did not and i had to pay for a more expensive flight. if you want to make any enquiries before you come to bangkok, here are a couple of agencies we use here at the school i work in... etc@etc.co.th and flybuy@clickta.com cheers maree |
