Transfer time from Domestic to Inter' Airport in Mumbai
Please help me to select flight on 31 Aug 09. I plan to book a flight domestic flight and transfer to International flight on these 3 options
1. Domestic Flight : from Cochin to Mumbai : GoAir -- G8-452 : 19.15pm.-21.10pm. International Flight : from Mumbai to Bangkok : Air India -- AI9693 : 0035am.-0620am. -- Do you think 3 hrs is enough for transfer flight? 2. Domestic Flight : from Cochin to Mumbai : GoAir -- G8-452 : 19.15pm.-21.10pm. International Flight : from Mumbai to Bankgkok to Jet Airways -- 9W062 : 01.10am.-07.05am -- 4 hrs for transfer flight. 3. Domestic Flight : from Cochin to Mumbai : Jet Airways -- 9W2104 : 16.05pm.-17.45pm. International Flight : from Mumbai to Bangkok : Air India -- AI9693 : 0035am.-0620am. -- safest, waste time at airport 7 hrs. Do I have to pick up luggage and check-in a International again if I use shuttle bus? Thks, Last edited by mex : Jul 15th, 2009 at 01:40. Reason: inform flight date |

1 hour for moving between domestic and international terminals is normally sufficient. However, because of flyover construction at the international terminals and the monsoon, the traffic is really bad. My advice would be to take the 7 hour layover.
Also, factor in baggage pickup from domestic airport which can take anywhere from 20-60 minutes. For international travel, I would check in atleast 2 hours before departure. |

I think 4 hours should be fine. The shuttle bus travels on the airport grounds and it leaves every half hour.

I would suggest option number 2.
If your flights are not booked in a connecting manner in that case you have to carry all your luggage from domestic to international. If it is connecting manner (means single ticker from chennai to the final destination) than airline will take care of it. |

Option 2 will give you plenty of time. The shuttle service between domestic and intl airport leaves approx every 20 min and takes about 10-15 min as it operates within the airport grounds. It would be madness to take an taxi. This could take more than an hour. Since you are flying with different airlines, I think you will have to pick up your luggage at the domestic airport. Usually one gets it fairly quickly. Once you got it, contact the Information Counter in the domestic airport and they will inform you about the next available shuttle and direct you.

Hi
Does anyone know how long a safe transfer between Mumbai domestic and Mumbai Int would take? Our flight to UK departs at 17:40 but we don't know which flight to catch from Goa to Mumbai: we can catch a plane arriving in Mumbai at either: 14:55 14:40 09:10 I'm wondering if the 1st 2 are cutting it a bit fine, unless we can check our baggage in in Goa for our flight home...? What do you suggest? Thanks Last edited by alilu : Aug 31st, 2009 at 01:23. Reason: Bad grammar, wrong times |

You probably cannot check your baggage all the way through since the tickets are not in the same PNR and unlikely that the domestic will interline with your international airline. 1440 seems do-able.

I came back home safely.
I hv checked-in for my international flight through internet and print out boarding pass so it wouldnt take much time at check-in counter. I arrived at Cochin Airport and ask the staff to provide a 'priority baggage' to my luggage as I shown him my connected flight. My luggage is the first that arrived at Mumbai Airport (After waiting about 10 mins because of heavy rain)BUT...I have to wait for shutter bus about 40 minutes and transfer time is about 20 minutes. I also been queqed for checking by security at the entrance of terminal. Finally I have time left for check-in counter about 1 1/2 hrs. ** If you have a tight time, you should contact transfer staff immediately, I think they can arrange 'something' for you.** Hope my experience is useful. ![]() |
