Take Print out of Air tickets before heading off to the airport!!!
I have been a long term lurker on this forum and I've got plenty of information on traveling in India from this forum.
I am sure that Its mentioned in the forum somewhere.
BUT
Ensure that you have a Printout of your e -ticket before you head off to the Airport. The security personnel wont let you into the airport unless you have a printout of your air ticket along with your photo id /passport.
There might be an airline office/business centre where you might be able to print it out but its not worth the hassle!!
Hope this helps someone on their first visit to India.

Yes!
Whilst the airline (or so a check-in person told me) doesn't actually need the e-ticket, you could be refused entry to the airport without it. Another member recently posted how they had to find their own name on a huge list, and were then allowed in.
Not worth the risk: carry a printout of your ticket.

I have a related question, I am travelling with my
family to Delhi this week. My wife has no photo id at
all, rest three of us are OK, have IDs. She had a passport which
expired couple of years back. I have booked the flight/ticket
in my name.
Will this be a problem ?

If all of you are booked on the same ticket, then No issues.
FWIW an expired passport can also be used as a photo ID in the absence of anything else.

i have booked a indigo flight ticket for my family. the airlines have instructed to bring photo id for every body. but the problem is that , all the id of my wife are bearing her earlier paternal surname. after marrying me her surname has been changed and ticket has been purchased in the name bearing the new surname. how to solve this problem? please.

You will not face any problem in this case. I faced a similar problem after my marriage and my wife at that time did not have any photo id with the new family name.
As long as the first name remains the same and the photograph matches, there won't be any problem.

It is very necessary to take out print of the air ticket whenever you book online filgt. The jetlite flight tickets print are very important if you are travelling through Jetlite airways.
