Suggestions on booking domestic flights

Hi all,

I posted this question under Ladakh section at first (but guess that was a wrong place to ask this).

The last time when I was in India (2007), I saw that the last minute ticket prices at the airports were cheaper than advance purchase on the net (makemytrip.com or Yatra.com). Is this still the case? I will be in India for two weeks in Sept and will do Delhi-Leh-Delhi-Calcutta-Bombay-(possibly Ahmadabad)-Bombay during those two weeks. Should I book my fights in advance or take my chances at the airports (though I may book Delhi-Leh-Delhi) in advance)? Is there any pass suitable for my itinerary?

Appreciate your help.

I presume there might be Visit India style passes available through a travel agent or check with individual airlines like Indian, Kingfisher, Jet etc.

I've never come across a situation where the airlines sell tickets cheaper at the last minute than advance purchase. Is last minute cheap sale by Airlines on in India ?

I recently got it cheaper 1260 per ticket..
As for my recent trek to uttaranchal I was planning to book a air ticket BLR-DEL 25th Sep (remember its Friday , hot time 5 PM flight , onset of Dusshera Holidays !!! most people take 3 days of leaves next week and get 9 days leaves!!!)

So for last 10 days i was observing it was 4389/- suddenly couple of days they made it cheaper 3129 !!!!
I immediately booked it saved 1260 per ticket!!!

Appreciate ur comments..

arunganpath, yes they do that often, depends on the route tho,,

chits007/delhiwala – Guess u both r right.. let me follow the price for a bit and may be I will book the less traveled routes first and may risk more popular routes for the last minute

But do u guys know if there is a pass which will be suitable and cheaper for my itinerary?

Thanks again guys,

Sudipto

I'd like to point out its best to book directly from the airline website, as some of the travel sites charge some extra amount as well.

I agree with Indizen...all the portal like makemytrip.cleartrip, traveloci ty,ezeego1.co.in are all add some charge 150 or so and the n give u discount which comes to same

its wlays better to directly book from airline website
But sometime these website esp ezeego1.co.in comes with wonderful offer like buy 1 get 1 wtc then we should use them..

this is a very good fare search website www.ixigo.com
it search all the airline portals..
