SpiceJet coupon codes, JetLite non-resident fares

Hey all! It's the first time I will be traveling to India. I have a few queries regarding SpiceJet and JetLite..

1) While searching on Google I found two SpiceJet promo codes "GET15SBI" and "GET2HDFC"; both offers 15% and 20% discounts respectively on the base fare for tickets booked online before September 30, 2009. When I applied the codes on the SpiceJet Booking Zone the payment amount did get reduced hence it seems they are still valid. However, I would like to know whether I need to a be a SBI or HDFC credit card holder and make the actual payment with SBI/HDFC credit card to obtain the discounted price. I haven't tried making the payments yet with my foreign credit card so was just wondering if the coupons will work. Also, if I'm able to make the payment with one of the codes do you think I will be checked whether I got a SBI/HDHC credit card during check-in at airport?

2) I have to book a return ticket for Kolkata-Goa. It seems with JetLite prices vary for residents and non-residents. The resident and non-resident fares were around Rs. 7110 and $240 respectively yesterday. I'm wondering would I be eligible to book through Makemytrip.com or JetLite website for the resident fare of Rs. 7,110? Also, If I make the payments in INR instead of USD at the JetLite website they would probably know I payed the domestic fare (with a foreign passport); would I get into trouble for this during check-in/boarding at CCU/GOI airport?

3) Jetlite resident fare for Kolkata-Goa return during January 24-30th in 2010 is Rs. 7,110 (non resident fare being $240 ie. about Rs. 11,520). SpiceJet fare is Rs. 10,146. Do you think I should wait a few more weeks (since it's still September) for a better offer or pick one between JetLite and SpiceJet?

4) I read an old post in the Indiamike forum about a 25% discount for non-resident youths (below 30). If that's still valid how do I apply for it to SpiceJet/JetLite?

Thanks in advance!

Hi rocknrolla...

I have booked couple domestic flights on JetKonnect and Kingfisher for this December. Jet requires that at the time of checking-in you present an ID (driver's license/passport etc) as well as the credit card that was used to make payment for the ticket.
If the credit-card holder is not the traveler, then a copy of both sides of the credit card (with the 3-digit authentication code blanked out) should be presented at the time of checking-in. This copy should be signed by the credit-card holder and should have following details:
Passenger name, date of travel, origin & destination (same as the ticket). To be sure, I would also put the flight number on this photocopy.

I used makemytrip.com, yatra.com, as well as direct websites of Kingfisher and jet. I was able to make reservations on all, although using indian credit card.

Now I am Indian and my boyfriend is American. But we booked our tickets together, paid in INR. I dont expect trouble on that front at the airport (fingers crossed). But I will only be able to tell you our experience on that front when we actually travel (which is in December).

Typically, sooner you book cheaper it is. Although, there were couple instances where the price fluctuated within a week. I followed the prices for a month, before booking.. managed to find Rs 0 or Re 1 + taxes tickets for 3 out of 5, but did not use any coupon codes.

I dont know much about the coupon code-credit card issue, or how to get youth discount. You might have to read up on Jet's website, or someone else here can help you with that.

PS: Did you not end up going to Sikkim/Darjeeling in May?
