the "system" wouldn't accept my credit cards--either of them (i always take two different ones), which is why i had to pay with cash. that being said, my situation appears to have been an anomoly. there was no reason they wouldn't accept my US cards, they just couldn't for technical reasons that night. it's always a good idea to have a back-up, travelers checks, perhaps. i'll take some next time.

Thanx for all your answers, i'm definitely taking travellers cheques for backup then., hope my visa credit card will be widely accepted though....
